It does not make as much MTX cash, but doesn’t OSRS have like 3/4 the runescape player base? That would be OSRS gold subscription fee loss for Jagex.MTX made up just 25% of the total revenue in 2018, and dropped from 2017. This figure is therefore this includes OSRS bond sales. I think runescape players prefer to think that RS3 MTX is the lifeblood of Jagex, but honestly it is making a very small fraction of the earnings at this point. OSRS is almost assuredly earning more money than RS3 at this point in time.
Nah that’s just wishful thinking, I really like rs3 but if one goes down it’ll be rs3. Based on who’s in charge in the time Jagex might hold their tongues and realise membership gives them enough or they’ll start with little recolours then following the backlash they will hold off for a year or so.I’m amazed I don’t see this said again. The LTV difference between the of an RS3 runescape player in contrast to OSRS is”probably” huge. Edited cause I do not really know, I haven’t pored.
Haven’t played runescape seriously in a few years but still pay since I want people to feel the feeling of adventure and freedom to osrs I did when I started playing classic, and to support the progession. I am definitely going to cancel it if any kind of mtx shows up. Irrespective of the osrs/rs3 hate, we play for exactly the exact same reason.
I’m not certain why people are here responding to comments of”osrs runescape players could just quit” using”lol no they would not”.Jagex said the same thing to runescape players back when they first started introducing mtx and stupid updates nobody wanted or asked for. Runescape players stated keep fucking testing, you’re making runescape unenjoyable and were about to leave. Jagex said lol no one won’t… guess whatthey did. These types of things could be made accessible without monetisation. The same as the makeover mage, barber, thellassia, etc – that they can make an NPC to buy RuneScape gold that does a similar thing to keepsake keys so their gear could be overridden by individuals with their treasure route benefits or whatever it is people enjoy.
